growing up in a home full of people can only be a good thing; you get so many friends without even leaving the house. being a bit of an introvert in said house, isn't always sunshine and daisies. wren enjoys having a big family but also enjoys having space to herself and being able to hear herself think. growing up, even if she had to share a room with one of her sisters, she was able to get to be on her own by letting herself be captured by reading. harry potter, the princess diaries, and even twilight kept her from feeling like she couldn't breathe. by being with made up characters, she was in her own little world, observing lives but never actually interacting.

when she got to high school, wren forced herself to be more social. that was when she realized that she gets anxious when it comes to talking, or thinking of talking to, large groups of people. she introduced herself to a couple of girls and continuously felt her stomach sink every time she opened her mouth. she was much better one-on-one. near the end of the first day of her freshman year, she opened her locker so forcefully that she hit the boy who was standing right next to it, waiting to talk to her. flustered, wren's first instinct was to run away while the boy laughed. her face got red and she was sure she was going to cry while apologizing profusely. the boy shook his head and just gave her a smile. wren was sure she was done trying to make friends for the rest of her life. then he came back the next day and within a month, they were dating. they stayed together for all of high school and continued to date until november 2014.

wren was known through high school as the obstinate good girl. she didn't smoke, she didn't do drugs, she wouldn't try any alcohol, and she was a virgin. of course, this wasn't something that many people actually really cared about, but it was something that most knew. her virginity wasn't lost until prom night, to her boyfriend of almost four years. she only drank non-alcoholic drinks until her 21 birthday, and has yet to try drugs or cigarettes.

halfway through her sophomore year at uci, wren suspected that she was pregnant. with her boyfriend, she took the test and got a positive. even though she and her boyfriend had been together for nearly six years, wren was terrified. being a mother was something she was so far from wanting. she was in the middle of getting a degree in english, which she had no idea what she was going to do with, but was excited to get it anyway. they went through all the options and decided to get married, which scared wren even more; she was never going to be alone again. the arrangements were already being made when they went to their first doctor appointment to find that the pregnancy test was a false positive. both were overjoyed but when going back to speak about the wedding, the pair decided that they couldn't go through with it. the more they talked about their relationship, the smaller it became; they called off the wedding, then they broke up because they didn't feel like they'd given themselves enough time to grow and learn themselves. what killed wren the most was when they stopped being friends.

christmas 2014 was an extremely hard one for wren. her now ex-boyfriend had confesseed that he felt like he couldn't be her friend anymore. he said that their relationship had to be an all or nothing situation. wren had thought that they both wanted to see what else was out there, but she was unfortunately alone. a few weeks after the break up, he wanted to be with her again. on an emotional rollercoaster, wren just couldn't bare it.

early 2015 swirled into chaos around wren. she was depressed and scared, had quit college to figure out what she really wanted to do. instead of focusing on getting an actual job, she furiously wrote a story similar to hers and her boyfriend's. it came out in fast waves and when she was done, she didn't know what to do. she'd stay in her bed for days, unable to move, unable to think. everything that surrounded her was gone. except for her family. in late january, wren showed her writing to mae, showed her how much of a bleeding heart she was as well. mae pushed her to send it to publishers, saying that with a little bit of editing,it could make a pretty great ya novel. it took several months but in late august of 2015, wren sold her novel to alfred knopf publishing. her work was rejected fifty times before.

wren still gets very upset and angry sometimes, she still gets anxious to the point of absolutely needing to be alone. she still has terrible days. there are still days when she can do nothing but cry in her bed over the love that she had and the friend that she lost. she still has days when she doesn't want to utter a single word outside of her own head. all of these days are getting fewer and fewer. mostly, wren is happy. she's still not a fan of being in huge groups, but the difference is that she really tries now. she takes a deep breath, takes a zoloft, and let's herself live. she has more friends now than she ever had before. she loves the beach and the woods and letting people in. she tries to be the kind of friend that she would like to have.

wren never went back to college. currently, she's trying to write another book, but nothing has come as quickly or as passionately as the first one. she hopes the writer's block doesn't last forever. her first book was published on october 25, 2016.

wren took a huge step in june 2017 and relocated to st augustine, florida, marking the beginning of a scary new adventure for her.
